A little January news
Wearing my Empress cap with pride ❤️🔥
Hello,
I went for a walk today! A proper walk. I know it sounds like not much for most people, but to me it was a huge deal. I managed almost 5 kms, which might as well have been a semi-marathon! And now my feet have that bone-tired ache that you get when you’ve been sightseeing all day in Rome, or Paris, or New York, and you long for a foot massage, or at least a good soak in magnesium salts, or a rubadub with peppermint foot lotion that The Body Shop used to make. I’m not even sure whether The Body Shop still exists. My friend Victoria and I used to be obsessed with their lemon soap way back in the Eighties.
So: my walk. Our Spanish house is on a golf resort, and today it was sunny, and I had no pain, so while my husband went to play golf, I walked over to the golf club and sat outside in the sunshine drinking Vichy Catalan (a salty mineral water you either love or hate! I love it) and wrote a poem – not a happy one, sadly… which is strange, because I felt happy, but maybe I was angry because others couldn’t be happily sitting in the sun like me.
Then I took a detour on the way back to the house – took the long way home as Supertramp once sang – which was delightful. I’ll probably be sore tomorrow, but that’s ok. Our daughter and her husband arrive in the morning, and I can’t wait to hug them.
Sending you love,
Francesca xx
