QUEEN: Skeins of delight
Anointed by golden hour
she ran across
dark Spanish sands,
a queen, eager to greet
the shell-laden seahorses
galloping shoreward.
Hoisting billowing petticoats,
legs adorned with decades of sunjoy,
long braid gambolling,
she cheered on
a retinue of scruffy,
floppy-tongued everydogs
racing by her side.
I took a mind-photo,
embroidered it
with skeins of delight,
and gifted it
to the present.
